As movers in Orlando, we have noticed how challenging it can be to relocate art. We have been helping customers move their art for years, so we figured we could help you out with some tips to ensure your Picasso makes it safely to your new home.
We all try to save money, when we can, but when moving art, you should never skimp. The last thing you want is to ruin a masterpiece when moving your Orlando home. One example is the wrapping paper, we often say that last weeks newspaper is a great way to have inexpensive wrapping paper, but we recommend purchasing thicker wrapping paper from your local moving company, like us! If you have a few pieces of art that are extremely important to you, you may even think about purchasing specialty boxes, that you can use to move your pieces, and will always be reusable for your next move.
Weather and temperature can often become the culprit of damaged art during a move, and this is where research comes in. We recommend researching the type of painting you have and finding out what is acceptable for your specific piece, you cannot move an oil painting in the same way you move your favorite acrylic landscape.
If you aren’t sure if you have enough protection on your art piece, use more bubble wrap, you can never be too safe! It is a lot cheaper to spend a few more dollars on extra bubble wrap, than to get your masterpiece restored, after the fact.
It is also important to inform your moving company of the art you are moving, as well as any other fragile items you may be moving. If the moving company is unaware of what a box is, they cannot take extra precautions with it. If you want to be completely safe, you can also label each box for the move.
If you follow the above tips, you will be safe, and your art will be hanging up in your new home, without any damage. If you need help moving your artwork, let us know, and as your movers in Orlando we will be glad with assisting you and ensuring your Picasso gets where it needs to go in one piece, and safe from all the elements.
